Shadows of Letum is an adult based dark fantasy sim. If you are offended by graphic violence, nudity or sex this may not be the sim for you. Because of the dark themes and events taking place around the sim we have rules in place to protect both the players and the feel of the sim, please take the time to read the following rules and attached notecards thoroughly. Most of these rules are common sense, but please familiarize yourself with them.
***Be warned it is our policy to punish the player and not the character for Rules violations.***
The sim is a complex role-play environment, the following rules are those set out by the admin team for the entirety of the sim. In character rules for the various areas and societies of the sim also exist separately, they are enforced solely through IC means and are not listed in this document.
Throughout sim documentation IC is short for In Character whereas OOC is short for Out Of Character.
--OOC (Out of Character) Rules--
The following rules are in effect for the entirety of the sim and apply to all players and visitors, please be aware of them:
- All players must at all times adhere to any local laws that may apply to them and the SL TOS. (Don't do any illegal shit!)
http://secondlife.com/corporate/tos.php
- Absolutely NO child avatars -
The sim is very adult and as such children are both unwelcome and in poor taste. Anyone found in violation will be banned from the sim and reported to the relevant authorities. Children do exist in an IC sense and may be referred to in the roleplay, but no avatars are permitted and scenes involving children must comply with the SL TOS as well as any local laws.
-How many characters can I play?-
Unless it becomes a problem, Players may bring three (3) active characters into the sim. You may choose to retire a character to bring another into play. No two characters may be so similar that it is difficult to tell them apart and ALL must have some indicator via name change or titler that denotes a different character is being played.
You may have multiple accounts, also, but if you are found to cause trouble or griefing, ALL will be banned if one is.
Each character will need a separate character card and you may not use avatars to metagame roleplay between them. Players with multiple characters that are in cross factions should not share plot information or secrets between those characters.
- This is a *roleplay* sim -
Therefor, players are expected to be in character whenever they are in the sim proper (excluding the landing zone and market), OOC comments are to be put in brackets (( )), excessive OOC speech is to be avoided, please use IMs for OOC conversations.
- Clothing must be of medieval fantasy style -
This is fantasy so some liberties can be taken, if you are in doubt ask around first.
- No Movement Enhancements -
No flying unless your character has been approved to do so.
No teleportation in roleplay (unless supported by the roleplay, and even then it should be used sparingly).
No use of wall climbers/ladders without associated roleplay.
No use of speed enhancers.
***Players are allowed to rez role-play related items, pose balls and mounts for immediate use. However all objects are subject to return without notice if they are left out when not in use or are deemed to have a negative effect on sim performance.
All objects rezzed in the role-play area are expected to fit the theme of the sim and must not be used to gain an advantage in combat or allow the player access to areas they are not otherwise permitted to enter.
Vendors or those renting living spaces will be given the ability to place a limited number of prims in a permanent capacity, however they will be restricted to doing so within their allotted spaces. For more information of vendor or living spaces see the rental unit in the market or contact an admin for more information (see landing zone for current admins). ***
- Do NOT mix IC and OOC -
OOC threats/name calling/harassment etc will be taken very seriously and may result in bans or forwarding of evidence to the authorities. Our roleplay is often very dark and dramatic, but remember this is in character only, causing drama OOC will see you removed from the sim. Severity of OOC behavior will determine whether this is a temporary ban or a permanent ban.
- This is an ADULT sim -
All players are expected to act like adults at all times. The sim depends heavily on an "on your honor system" as such players are expected to be honest and keep their word OOC. This means agreements on resolving combat, wagers etc etc must be honored. In no way however does this limit in character dishonesty, so be careful to ensure you've made an agreement OOC if you expect it to be upheld!
--Visitors--
Visitors must wear the ( OOC Titler ) at all times when in the roleplay area.
As a visitor you may explore the sim as you please, however be courteous to those who are role-playing and do not interfere. If you have questions please use IMs so as not to break in on scenes in progress.
Exploring the sim does NOT mean you do not need to dress appropriately. Visitors should be dressed appropriately for the theme before moving into the role-play area. That is why there is a landing zone not down in the sim. If you have no medieval clothing there are freebies provided at the entrance, where you landed in the skybox.
--RP Standards--
Nudity is allowed on sim, but must be thematic in nature, this means having a specific reason. However many locations on the sim will have their own IC rules pertaining to nudity. Venture into such areas at your own peril.
Sex is allowed on sim, but players are expected to play this realistically, few characters would realistically have a desire to fornicate in public. Most areas in the sim have their own IC rules about sex, you have been warned. THIS IS NOT A SEX SIM.
While slavery is allowed in the roleplay, this is NOT Gor, the standards and rules of that society do not exist here. The relationship between dominants and submissives/masters and slaves of all sorts is up to the players involved. You may NOT force another into more than a temporary captive status, i.e. losing to another due to combat, being kidnapped via rp, etc.
God moding/meta gaming and cheating are all against the spirit of the sim and are of course illegal. If you are confronted with a god moder/meta gamer, attempt to continue the role-play if you can and contact an admin, do not attempt to police the rules yourselves.
Fade to black is allowed within reason. It is inevitable that from time to time a player will end up in a scene that makes them genuinely uncomfortable OOC. When this is the case, the approved response is a fade to black, the uncomfortable party sends an IM explaining their limitations to the other party, the role-play can then be resolved by an agreement of what the outcome was without having to play out the entire scene. (Most commonly used for resolving rapes, torture or other extreme scenes that go against a character’s will) However, this is still an adult themed sim and a player who fades to black too often or for themes considered common in the sim will be spoken with by an admin or moderator.
This is an adult role-play environment, you are responsible for the situations your character gets into and must play them out. Consequences for your actions may not be avoided or retroactively denied, via fade to black or any other method. Just because you didn't play it doesn't mean it didn't happen. If you are uncomfortable with a scene or the direction a certain role-play is taking, make it known immediately and find a way out.
If you have any questions or issues please do not hesitate to contact one of the admins.
